L.A. electro-pop duo drops another perfect end-of-summer anthem

Los Angeles-based, Miami-raised electro-pop duo Magdalena Bay have been on an absolute creative tear over the past year. Their retro-infused take on modern DIY pop has struck a real chord with audiences to the tune of over 3.5 million Spotify streams. Earlier this year they dropped a pair of awesome EPs – Night/Pop and Day/Pop, as well as the truly dazzling “mixtape” Mini Mix Vol. 1. They’ve also released a handful of terrific singles and amazing low-budget videos. Today they add a new one to that collection, a quirky and colorful clip for their latest shimmering single “Venice.”

Directed with an eye-popping cinematic touch by Pete Ohs, the video follows the duo of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin sticking out a hot summer’s day in a sweltering apartment, ratcheting up the air conditioning to seemingly no effect. From there things get surreal, as the band disappears into a snowy visual TV backdrop, before the entire apartment fully transforms into a makeshift winter wonderland. It’s a dreamy and strange slice of pop escapism, and another visual triumph for Magdalena Bay to add to their arsenal. Beyond the clip, “Venice” is just a perfect dance-pop hit to throw on repeat as summer winds down to an end. Check it out below.
