Marcus Gamboa, aka brothel., has been feeding his burgeoning fanbase with singles over the past weeks – but now he’s dropping the whole package with his Something Somewhere EP. The 6-track project explores the range of intriguing soundscapes, from the mysterious electropop of Andrew, to the experimental sounds of “Tell Me.” In just six tracks, brothel showcases his range, an inadvertent consequence of his desire to “show my audience how I have been feeling..and growing as an artist,” as he said over e-mail.
The talented producer has been on the road all year, making new musical connections that are apparent on the EP, which includes four features. The sinister “Whiz” is a standout from the EP as a dark, entrancing collaboration with Detroit-based producer Butch Clancy.
“If you would have asked me 5 years ago id be making music and becoming friends with butch clancy id say you’re full of s–t.. but I’ve been chasing the dream and doing what I love to do.”
Not only is brothel. reaping the benefits of his dream chasing, so are his fans. You can stream the Something Somewhere EP below.
