Cayetana, “Serious Things Are Stupid”

Following two strong EPs, Philadelphia punk trio Cayetana is finally releasing their highly anticipated debut LP, Nervous Like Me. The album opener, “Serious Things Are Stupid”, begins with a private reflection from singer Augusta Koch: “I came here alone / and I plan to leave that way, but I find comfort in all of the things you say.” Following this quiet confession, the band kicks into a fierce frenzy. Koch's voice contains a heaviness that is matched by the crashing instruments of Kelly Olsen and Allegra Anka. The final moments where Koch wails, “You won't change your ways” are absolutely heartbreaking.
