Nothing says “dude” more than a couple of French guys recording a dirty synth cover of this Sonny and Cher classic (…right?). Those were the sort of gems you would find on ZE Records, which is celebrating it's 30th birthday this year with a handpicked selection of the labels greatest hits, entitled Ze 30: Ze Records 1979-2009 and being released on Strut Records. The compilation gives a snapshot of the label that was ground zero for the no wave scene as well as many of the mutated disco acts that played the Paradise Garage and Mudd Club, and helped make New York the place that it isn't today.
