Distractions

Jeremy Krinsley

Chicago's Distractions lay proud claim to their city, exclaiming that they “actually portray the reality of Midwest big city living in their deep space tones, jangling chords, and thick vocals.” We can vouch for this, particularly that silky baritone.

The band writes real grown-up songs and chooses melodic turns of phrase that hearken back to bossa nova as much as to the melancholy dream-wop their delicate instrumentals strum through.

The band released a debut cassette on Plus Tapes this month with a pile of eight tracks that will soon get re-mixed and re-mastered for vinyl by Udbhav Gupta of Twin Sister. They play Pianos tonight, before heading back to their windy city.
