Eric Copeland of Black Dice/Terrestrial Tones is putting out a solo record on DFA on August 6, the first single from which is the delectable “Cheap Treat” below. The track starts with an industrial pulse, and then swiftly moves into lighter, funkier territory—eclectic beats pop and groove and just as the listener settles in to what feels like an avantgarde trial in keeping things interesting. Never one to stick with one pace, one tone, or one style, Copeland's first single from Joke in the Hole is getting us all amped for what is surely going to be a challenging but fascinating solo output.
