Fist Fam, “Posted”

I love SXSW because I always leave with new friends. At our Scoot Inn day show, Impose finally met one of its favorite beatsmiths, Al Lover. We slammed PBRs, utilizing the camo-Fist Fam beer koozies he gave us and discussed possibly sampling Hunx and His Punx, much like he did with Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall, while they played 20 feet from us. Before he bounced, he handed out a couple copies of Fist Fam's Posted LP.

The sampling of SF psyche-staples was our first glimpse into the Fist Fam crew. The lead single “Posted” is of a different ilk with its bugged-out backwoods funk and looped horn sample that sounds like a New Orleans funeral march. The SF crew, by way of North Carolina, might be City kids now, getting gurped out and whatnot, but the years of instilled twang are impossible to shake. The lead single is a dedication to the fine art of loitering and stoop dwelling while making screw faces. If only Wolf Blitzer had learned how to be posted, instead of shamefully destroying white peoples hard work at proving we can dance with two painful minutes of attempting to Dougie.

Fist Fam's Posted is streaming here and available through I-Tunes and Bandcamp on vinyl and digitally April 1 via Fist Family/Reflective Flesh Records.
