G-Side's landlocked Island

Blake Gillespie

Huntsville, Alabama's G-Side is breaking the rules of release dates by dropping its follow-up to The One.. Cohesive on 11.11.11. As mutual rule breakers, we are naturally in favor of Island dropping on Friday even if it gives us a little competition. I spoke with G-Side last week and the duo disclosed that the fame has not changed the formula on Island. The record was recorded in Huntsville, like all their previous albums and is largely produced by Block Beattaz. “Look Up” is a powerful introduction to Island, as Block Beattaz prove the sound is only getting heavier. ST 2 Lettaz and Yung Clova earned the privilege to boast a bit on “Look Up” as they've ridden the high wave of hype into solidifying their city's place in the hip hop community. Besides, when Block Beattaz are mixing up horns like the ones heard here, it's impossible not to grin in triumph.
