Gatsby’s Fiddle, “Spin Around The Earth”

Meredith Schneider

Los Angeles-based Gatsby’s Fiddle – the musical project of multi-talented Wesley Houdyshell – has been hard at work on his forthcoming sophomore album titled Coincidence Lottery. We’ve got the premiere for the first song off that album, a beautiful song titled “Spin Around The Earth”.

“The song is a nostalgic tune about lost relationships,” says Houdyshell. “And the bittersweet feeling of being single at age thirty while my friends and peers are settling down into family life and the safety of careers.”

Refreshing. This is the word that comes to mind as the track spins into its upbeat, complete form. A slight island feel to it, the vocals set in quirkily and make the song more of an indie rock track than anything else. It’s poignant – but in a fun way – and perfect for any transitional period in life.

“Spin Around The Earth” was mixed and mastered by Ryan Burian of Gkiss Records in Hemet, CA.
