Javelin remix HEALTH

Brooklyn's Javelin are proven wizards of genre restoration, thumping the pulse back into disco and R&B. With its remix to HEALTH's “In Heat,” Javelin drop some schoolyard funk for the double dutch ropes.

The party may have begun for the duo of Tom Van Buskirk and George Langford in Providence, but it always leads to Brooklyn. Javelin was tapped to remix HEALTH's “In Heat,” once again playing the role of restoration artist and giving us a reason to remember HEALTH had an album last year. While it's a shame the Ninja of Go Team fame vocals are just an opening sample, Javelin's remix turns the drums-of-war assault of the original into a funky two-step. HEALTH's tender vocals that once felt cold and haunting amidst the noise, now feel at home as a synthy-falsetto refrain to a rollerskating jam.

Javelin is playing 11 SXSW shows, one of which is our Imposition at the Longbranch Inn March 20.

Javelin's No Mas is out now on Luaka Bop.
