With Freddie Gibbs' signing to Young Jeezy's Corporate Thugz Entertainment imprint back in March, trap rap got its official shipment of a second wind. It only took two months for the power move to yield results with “Stripes (Run D MC)” hitting the airwaves and blogosphere today. According to Gibbs, the two of them were listening to Run DMC in the studio when brilliance struck, to put a space between the “DMC” and if by now you are not following the play on words here, it's time to get that GED.
Produced by Lodi, “Stripes (Run D MC)” is only the beginning of Gibbs and Jeezy collab tracks and it's going to be murder in the streets as this new union burrows deep into the studio. Definitely digging how Jeezy toys with the youngblood's style of chanting “swag” by appropriating it to his snowman persona, chanting “sno” beneath the chorus – swag.
