Jonti begins his Stones Throw podcast with “Saturday Night Songs”, the first song he ever recorded. After leaving South Africa for Australia, Jonti became a self-taught student of music, keeping notes on a 4-track recorder. Billed as a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, Jonti sort of has an Australian-version of James Pants thing going for him with more of a lean towards beat music. That lean led to a collaboration with Jonwayne in '07, back when Jonwayne was probably 16-ish and rapping Walt Whitman quotes.
Peanut Butter Wolf is scared of Jonti's potential, citing his age as a primary reason, and while Jonti's age is still unkown, in his brief time breathing he's shared oxygen with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon and the Dap-Kings, as well as producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile). Sine & Moon is a chance to hear the young pup's progression before the release of his Stones Throw debut Twirligig in October. For Twirligig, Jonti handled the entirety of the record by himself, despite his solid rolodex. One listen to Sine & Moon will have you curious as a kitten as to how Jonti's wide aray of influences will shape the sound of his debut. Frankly, we can hardly wait.
