“You Disappear” is the first single off La Luz’s new forthcoming record, Weirdo Shrine, out August 7 on Hardly Art. A wistful dance of surf guitars clang and bounce off a marimba-tined rhythm section of brooding bass and speedy drums. Light keys glisten in the background, blending into the mix until they’re noticed, then becoming inescapable. Weirdo Shrine, the sophomore follow-up to It’s Alive, was produced by Ty Segall, and is unsurprisingly said to incorporate more fuzz than the Seattle band has ever used in the past, certainly evident on this track, but also very appropriate in compliment to La Luz’s already esteemed surf roots.
