We have another Liam The Younger track for those of you who require a bit of somber reflection on a Tuesday morning. A fitting song for the first week of a new year, “It Is Good” finds Liam looking back at 12 months past and shrugging it off for the sweet mystery of the present. “It Is Good” feels as though it was written post-ephiphany. The one a young person has when they realize the people who say “times were better when…” are missing the point. The epiphany that every generation has staked claim to better eras possibly since there were two generations to bicker over the best of times. He's right in thinking they are all wrong. It's a bit hippyish to say “only the living are really alive”, but at least he knew better than to make it a refrain.
With each track leaked from After The Graveyard we learn a little more of Liam's philosophies. The twangy sway of “It Is Good” propels Liam to let loose. Once freed of nostalgia, he sees everything and understands that all sees him in return. He's having his Gil Pender breakthrough as well as obtaining the knowledge that everything is Buddha. Quite the loaded epiphany for two minutes.
