Based on the two amazing singles released thus far, Mannequin Pussy’s debut LP Gypsy Pervert is gearing up to be one of our favorite fall records. This feeling of anticipation was only heightened when Marisa Dabice, Thanasi Paul, and Kaleen Reading performed at the Impose/Exploding In Sound festival. Mannequin Pussy killed it.
Which is why we are excited to premiere the third single from their upcoming album, “Meat Slave 2”. Beginning with a simple drum beat before the guitar and bass slowly join in, as Dabice’s voice enters in a surprisingly vulnerable manner. A testament to her range, she conveys just as much power in these quieter moments as she does when she is shrieking and screaming. Compared to the first verse, the chorus hits like a scuzzy nightmare, as Dabice sings with a slightly twisted sneer, “You’re my kind of scumbag / Come on over oh I’ll make you glad.”
