Waaaaay back in 2012, Mannequin Pussy released “Someone Like You” as a spring demo. At the time, the band was composed of childhood friends Marisa Dabice and Thanasi Paul, but they were soon joined by drummer Drew Adler. Together, the trio recorded Mannequin Pussy's debut cassette Gypsy Pervert, which is now being released on vinyl through Tiny Engines. An updated version of “Someone Like You” is included on the new album, and man does it sound awesome. Mannequin Pussy are known for their raucous shows, but in “Someone Like You”, Dabice trades her primal screams for ethereal verses, set against the band's trademark thrashing and haze.
Mannequin Pussy also have an upcoming split with the UK's Dog Legs which includes new songs and a zine featuring artwork from both bands. And while we're discussing Mannequin Pussy news, the band will be performing at our all-day outdoor summer festival on Saturday, July 12.
