North Carolina's Ashrae Fax were a big cult favorite in the mid-2000s and with a number of self-released albums and EPs, their fandom only grew at the same time the band eclipsed into obscurity. In one of those gosh-darn-amazing stories that make us swoon over the friendship between DIY and the internet, their lovely dreampop shiners started to make their way into the ears of the folks at Mexican Summer. Now, from the ashes rises a new Ashrae Fax and a lovely agreement: Mexican Summer has decided to reissue the entire Ashrae Fax discography, while the group has reunited to write more songs and start playing shows again. They are starting small, with local NC shows and the Hopscotch Music Festival in September, but we're hoping that the resurgence leads to a full tour.

The astoundingly beautiful Static Crash is a gem of goth dreampop for the lighthearted teen girl and lonely boy—joyful and melancholy in every which way. It releases through Mexican Summer on June 25. Check out a video for “Pointbreak” to get your reissue vibes kickstarted.
