Moon Duo’s new single, “Slow Down Low,” is the second off their forthcoming record, Shadow of the Sun. With wondrous synths and Ripley Johnson’s cool-coiled vocals, the song takes on a ceaseless carefree, chug-along rhythm and dirty fuzz that screams of picturesque landscapes and the romance of North American highways. Its lengthy cruiser feel is matched by hazed, echoed soloing that breaks up the pleasant monotony, and drives from verse to verse. It’s a significantly brighter tune than the previously released single, “Animal,” exerting their versatility in the psychedelic world, and not pigeon-holing a tendency for the weird and eerie, or for the drone-steady thumps of previous releases. “Slow Down Low” is streaming below.
