The Pink Drapes, “Like With Like”

These cats are my friends and you should get to know them…

I was about to do a blurb on Flight's new track “Turns To Blood,” but it turns out that one of my fellow Imposians has already done just that. So, what was I to do? Just turn around and write about some of my OTHER friends that jam hard.

The Pink Drapes are a trio–Andy, Jason, and Laura–of folks from my old stomping grounds in Arkansas. I've known all of them for a while, Andy the longest, and I've even jammed in several projects with him over the years. Maybe I'll put some of that shit up here on Never Waking Up in the future…

They play chilly, post-punk influenced, reverb-heavy folk-pop. To me, “Like With Like” has a lighter, more new-wave Blank Dogs vibe mixed with something like Woods maybe, with a sliver of death-rock hanging in there somewhere. I know these cats are heavy on the Smiths-tip, listen to Bauhaus and Joy Division, and totally like to dance to shit from the 80s — nothing wrong there. They definitely cite their music as bummer vibes, which… Hell, I guess it sort of is.

Get in on the act, and check 'em out. They've got a Myspace and a Bandcamp. Keep your eyes and ears on them, because I expect good things. “Like With Like” certainly gets my stamp of approval, whatever the fuck that's worth…
