We gave Mux Mool's Planet High School the honors for Best Album of February, but we're far from finished lauding the beat technician's sophomore record. The physical format of Planet High School dropped this week and we're premiering “Cash For Gold” in celebration of wax and jewel cases.
Nestled into the raw breaks of the latter half of the record, “Cash For Gold” is Mux in Human After All mode, both in aesthetic and in being a human susceptible to influence. The track piggy backs off “Raw Gore”, which was preceded by the tender “Hand On The Scantron”, noting a shift into afterschool mayhem that ensues before the parental units get home at 5 for dinner. There's plenty of teenage rebellion pulsing through Planet High School and “Cash For Gold” is the point at which you loot from your gram-gram's jewelry box, flip the booty for cold hard cash and use it to finish that tat sleeve.
Mux Mool's Planet High School is out now on Ghostly.
