Nuela Charles craves ‘Danger’ on her ritzy return
NUELA CHARLES, alternative-soul powerhouse delivers her own classification of potent vocals amid audacious instrumentation and percussion. Kenyan-born, Canada-based Charles was penned as “one to watch” by the legendary Soul Train, after striking off 2018 with a JUNO Award Nomination for Contemporary Album of the Year for second album “The Grand Hustle”.
Today, Nuela releases ‘Danger’; third single off the forthcoming EP ‘Distant Danger’ – set for release October this year. ‘Danger’, which is produced by award-winning Ryan Worsely (Dear Rouge, Said The Whale), arrives hot-on-the-tails of snappy first single ‘Do It Right’ – co-written and produced by the renowned, Grammy Nominated Rob Kleiner (Andra Day, Sia, CeeLo Green) – and sophisticated second single ‘Troublemaker’ co-produced by Nuela herself…
‘Danger’ serves as a ritzy return for her bold pop-soul fusion. The addictive panache-ridden tones of the single start from the outset – an éclat of guitars dart around the mix under Nuela’s silky notes, while a slinky strut of a pre-chorus simply screams “sass”; ‘be a little bit of rough if you let me, kind of tough if you get me (get me)’.
Nuela tells us more about the improvised undertones of the track: “Danger is a song that came out of a writing session that wasn’t even meant for me. We (production duo Towers, and I) had a guest writer in that day (Drew Shalka), and weren’t even thinking about writing for my own project.” And the premise: “Lyrically, it’s kind of cheeky and ultimately is just a plea for a more exciting kind of relationship. Who doesn’t want to be swept away, in an epic romance?!”
Forthcoming EP ‘Distant Danger’ will be out on all platforms October 19th 2018.
