Holy shit, sometimes it just clicks and you realize you're listening to a perfect song. That's how I felt the first time I heard “Everybody's So Fucked Up” by Sisters, from Olympia, Washington.
I just wrote an article on the The Jesus Lizard, peppered with mentions of other noise-rock bands from the 90s, so of course, this shit is right up my alley since Sisters sounds like that's where they came from. I like to think all killer shit pretty much came from the 90s. I would have to say the vibe of this song is kind of like Sonic Youth and Flipper jamming with Mudhoney or something…
Everything about this song is just absolute perfection, from the sleazy riff to the driving beat. I'd have to go with the lyrics, though, as the most killer aspect of this song. With lines like, “Don't you fucking touch me asshole, don't you fucking touch me asshole!” half-shouted in a tone that sounds worn out and genuinely misanthropic, the song just has a way of beating you over the head.
The song is from the album Everbody, that dropped on Parts Unknown–whose catalogue hosts a slew of other killer bands, such as Pissed Jeans, Pigeon Religion, Dry Rot, and Never Healed–back in '08. If you're into this jam, I'd probably hit that place up and snag yourself a copy (even though it looks like their online store is temporarily down).
I'm gonna go snag myself a milkshake. Fuck The World.
