India’s Nischay Parekh and Jivraj Singh lend their talents to the phenomenal experimental folk pop musical project Parekh & Singh, the latest signees to the U.K.’s Peace Frog Records. They also received the Jack Daniels Rock Award for Song of the Year in 2014, as well as Vh1’s Sound-nation Award for Best New Artist that same year. They’ve got a brand new song, “Philosophize”, premiering right here, right now.
“‘Philosophize’ was one of the earliest songs I ever wrote,” they elaborate. “It’s essentially about how I used to dream about life in the west and feeling a little out of place as a western musician in India. The lyric – ‘New York state of mind in Indian standard time’ really sums up my feelings at the time.”
The song has a mid-tempo rhythm, but builds up gradually, highlighting the emotional, lightweight vocals. The way that the instrumentals layer into each other conjures up images of pure magic, as we drift away into the unique and beautiful sound of Parekh & Singh.
Keep up with the guys here.
