Pleasure Leftists, “you you”

Post Author:

Pleasure Leftists, a Cleveland-based post-punk quartet, has released their first single off their upcoming debut LP The Woods of Heaven on Deranged Records. A few seconds into “you you” and you can already trace the band’s influences back to 80’s goth bands like Bauhaus and Siouxsie and the Banshees. While borrowing from these sounds, the band has crafted a reinvigorating, heavy, pop-driven track. Haley Morris’ soaring vocals and the hazy guitar riffs put you in a ambiguously moody, yet pleasant state. At the same time, the rhythmic attack of bass and drums ensure the song hits you in a hard and precise way. Though they reference familiar sounds, Pleasure Leftists channel enough passion and conviction that you’re anchored to the here and now.
