Queen Leaf, “Marble Room” (Moiety Remix)

Blake Gillespie

In its ninth release Blankstairs sustains an experimental breadth that is not without homage to the foundation. This time departing from the Pacific Northwest to invite LA producer Queen Leaf into the fold, the Marble Room EP glides effortlessly through dance floor readiness and featherweight ambient.

While the eponymous track does not depart too heavily into the ambient texture, producer Moiety secures “Marble Room” as a club fixture by maximizing the percussion fuel. The bongo beat inverts the system of Queen Leaf, giving “Marble Room” gravity to the sub, particularly when Moiety transforms it further so that the bass is a lead piston pummeling the track deeper into the subterranean.

Queen Leaf’s Marble Room EP is out May 26 on Blankstairs. Below is a teaser for the EP.
