Prince Rama have always been in touch with “the other side”, if you will, and on their new album they are going even deeper. The album is a greatest-hits compilation from ten different bands, as channelled by Prince Rama, and for the first time, the songs can rightfully be considered pop. Also, for the first time, they are being sung primarily in English, instead of the language of the ladies' devising used before. The first single is by Rage Peace, a small protest band from the '90s that became “the Bob Dylans of a whole generation of disaffected youth.” Hmm. I don't remember that. In any case, it is a departure for Taraka and Nimai Larson, who appear to be leaving the tribal rhythms of their past behind – for now – as they pause to channel music from the different groups. However, judging from the groups on the cover of the record, it won't be all pop. Take a look at this detail from the image below:
How could we possibly choose which band is going to be our favorite? What the hell? Black Elk Speaks? Guns of Dubai? Ugh, the anticipation is killing me!!! In any case, check out the incredible catchy “Destroy You” and try not to bite your fingernails past the quick in anticipation.
