Railcars gets remixed

California's Railcars came through with an exclusive NO/FI remix of the title track from his debut Cathedral With No Eyes.

It's a Friday night freakout this week. Despite moving to L.A., Railcar's debut is a weirdo marriage of two San Francisco scenes: the lo-fi rockers and the glamorous dance DJs. The original title track is monstrous in distorted riffage and esoteric chants. It's a mess of feedback held together with electronic drum patterns and a pulsing low end. Railcars maintains all the weirdness of bands like Religious Girls and Thee Oh Sees, while implanting industrial beats into the fold.

The NO/FI remix is the anti-edit of the Railcar original. NO/FI extract the subdued samples, discarding the 13th Floor Elevators elements, to create a blippy elevator tune. It's loungey and brief – the sort of music that keeps you on hold. We included the original should you be more interested in the industrial rage side of weekends and not the serene in between moments of anticipation.

Railcars Cathedral With No Eyes 12″ is out now on Stumparumper Records.
