In early 2012, Tokyo-based bedroom house wizard Sapphire Slows, aka Hiramatsu Kinuko, came on the scene with an intriguingly moody electronic 12″, True Breath. Her ten-track full-length release this month, Allegoria, is worthy of sci-fi movies and dark dance floors alike. Highlight track “Fade Out” features some fresh, wispy scatting paired with otherwordly layering of synthed-out melodies. The emotional tones run deep, with crystal clear definition, evidence of a master at work.
