I would be willing to bet that every piece written about Frankie Cosmos' Greta Kline uses some sort of variation of the words “simple.” While not necessarily meant to be demeaning, the word may cause listeners to miss the point of her music. Following in the footsteps of those labeled twee before her, Kline crafts catchy pop songs with sharp, not-always-adorable, actually-pretty-dark lyrics.
Today, Kline self-released a new collection of songs titled “affirms glinting”. The tracks were written over the last few months, which have been full of touring with both Porches. and Frankie Cosmos. Kline has also taken part in a rad project called Song a Day For a Week (May 5-12) and few of those songs make appearances. Rather than try to discuss a deeply personal group of songs, I highly suggest listening to the album yourself. I will say, however, that “the suckers corner” is a real sucker punch to the HEART.
