Stream Guerilla Toss’s New 367 Equalizer Tape

Funked up noise with a touch of The Slits, Boston-based dance-punks Guerilla Toss have just dropped a stream for 367 Equalizer, the latest installment in Diarrhea Planet drummer Casey Weissbuch’s curated Infinity Cat tape series.

Reminiscent of the messy, ’80s post-punk Higsons-esque funk so popular amongst the college radio crowd, Guerilla Toss manages to keep things fresh with a healthy dose of noise, adding sped-up drums and distorted synths. Intricate, perforated arrangements that rattle and weave through the entire four-track, it’s filled with jagged guitar riffs paired with dub-by bass lines, all offset by frontwoman Kassie Carlson’s pitchy howls.

Stupidly infectious and almost too much fun, it contains hooks danceable enough to appeal to those usually adverse to Guerilla Toss’s off-kilter rhythms. So put the punk back into funk and don’t be surprised if the limited release goes fast.
