The Blow, “From The Future”

In the second single off of The Blow's forthcoming self-titled record, their first since 2007, Khaela Maricich uses her signature vocal style (direct and earnest, though deceptively so) to have a conversation with the moon. Whether that callout is a masked allusion to Miranda July's The Future, the line between the women is actually quite linear—both make art that is expressively confrontational, generous, and sweetly empathetic, all to make a lasting imprint on some of the deeper, untouched parts of our hearts. “From The Future” slices between dance and indiepop territory, but never loses touch with Maricich's plaintive vocal track, making it more The Blow than we could imagine possible several long years later.

The self-titled record will release through Kanine Records on October 1, and you can catch Khaela Maricich and Melissa Dyne blowing through your town at the dates below the embed.
