There's a possibility we made the Stay High byte category because of Woodsman. The psych-rock outfit has been kicking out the stoner jams for as long as we've been an online publication. With each ritualistic appearance, the category is renewed as relevent and we spend a little less time revisiting the distant era of 2011 when everything was psychedelic.
With Woodsman's third LP due in February, the experimental band released “Rune,” a track that feels as though it was conceived by fire and dust. The percussion is in heavy meditation, while the guitars echo in sparse riffs alongside bleepy transmissions. The instrumental track has the inertia to blow wide open, but Woodsman keep the groove tight, at least in its recorded state. We imagine in a live setting, this will awaken the ancient animal in you.
Woodsman's self-titled LP is out Feburary 4 on Fire Talk. Pressing is limited to 300 with 100 of the records pressed to transparent orange.
