For those of you (3%) who have been sitting at home on your couch wondering what the hell Dan Deacon is doing, there is a lot of news to update you with. This past week Dan Deacon re-released two LPs from his earlier days; Meetle Mice and Silly Hat Vs. Eagle Hat are now available on a double LP via Carpark Records. Limited cassette versions of Meetle, Silly, Spiderman of the Rings and Bromst will be also be available at upcoming shows. Deacan began selling these LPs during his shows in college, typos and all. (He realized he had misspelled “copy write” and “egale” after they had been sold but decided to keep it for humor's sake.) Even though these albums look and sound different from Deacon's current stuff, he reassures us it's all “still of the same tree.”
Dan will be playing a few solo shows before touring with the Dan Deacon Ensemble on the Wham City Comedy Tour (dates are listed below). And if that isn't enough to fill your Dan Deacon void, he's also been working with director Francis Ford Coppola on the score and soundtrack for an upcoming film TWIXT, which just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival (and featured a dancing Val Kilmer). Dan's a busy man and now you'll be busy the rest of the day listening to to his old, misspelled brilliance.
