True story, last night I went to a trivia night in Park Slope, and in between questions, the unbearably smug host was playing an array of electronic-tinged indie music that would bring warm fuzzy feelings to the mostly-white, 30-somethings in attendance. Appropriately enough, Destroyer‘s excellent “Kaputt” was played, at which point my fiancee turns to me and asks, “Whatever happened to him?” Then, no lie, this morning comes word he’s putting out his first full length since the 2011 album (he released the Five Spanish Songs EP in 2013) and going on an extensive tour. Irony? Coincidence?
Dan Bejar’s new record, Poison Season, will actually be a double LP that will be released via Merge in the US on August 28 and Dead Oceans in the UK. The first taste of which, “Dream Lover”, you can listen to below.
Destroyer will also be hitting the road for an extensive tour that will take him around half of the globe this fall. You can view all of his announced tour dates below the stream.
