Dirty Beaches sheds light on new instrumental album

Caitlin Greene

After sharing a video teaser last month for his upcoming instrumental album, Stateless, Dirty Beaches’ Alex Zhang Hungtai is now announcing that it will hit November 4 via Zoo Music. The album reflects on notions of diaspora, national identity, and exile, as Alex’s upbringing carried him across several continents and cultures. Speaking about his message on Twitter, he writes, “We adapt and venture through each phase with intentions of engagement, embracing mistakes and chances that eventually become the foundation of identities and roles we take on in life. All pain is temporary, as in joy, anger, doubt and all human emotions. Nothing is forever.” Stream the album opener, “Displaced”, below.
