In our most recent On The Couch feature, which explores the relationship between comedians and mental health, Paul F. Tompkins gave us the clearest explanation of the importance of seeking out help to maintain mental stability:

“Therapy is a great thing, people shouldn’t be ashamed of talking about it. For a lot of people, it’s still a thing you are raised to believe you should be ashamed of, and it shouldn’t be. It’s just going to the doctor. You should not be ashamed to go to the doctor, ever.”

Unfortunately, despite the attention brought to the profession and its impact on society, many people—especially young people—fail to seek the help they need for reasons largely based on insecurity and naivety. Which is why there is a day dedicated to raising awareness for those who struggle with mental-health issues and information about how to get help. To mark World Mental Health Day this past Saturday, Dublin’s Paper Trail Records released Thanks For Listening, a compilation that will benefit Ireland’s National Suicide Charity. Featuring new tracks from Meredith Graves, Eskimeaux, Infinity Girl, and ironically, Teen Suicide, among others, the compilation is both worthy of your listen and purchase, knowing the money is going to a good cause.

You can stream Thanks For Listening below and purchase it at Paper Trail’s Bandcamp.
