Fleet Foxes have announced plans for a second album, one that they recorded over the course of the past year (during which they didn't tour at all). Sample their first leak, the title track “Helplessness Blues”, which takes that Bon Iver autotune back to real live in-tune dudes harmonizing, basically carbon copying the Crosby Stills and Nash aesthetic, because that's what Fleet Foxes does.
Robin Pecknold offers some quaintly self-nullifying lyrical moments: he'd rather be a cog in a machine of some greater purpose than a unique lil snowflake, and: “If I had an orchard I'd work til I'm sore.” Right. Perhaps he'll buy one after this album. Or he'll just move on to the next metaphor…
