FRKWAYS Vol 7: Borden, Ferraro, Godin, Halo, & Loptain

FRKWYS is a 12″ series launched by the New York-based label Rvng that facilities amazingly unexpected collaborations by pairing contemporary artists with their progenitors; the 7th installment finds us with a “synth ensemble,” a rag-tag band of synthesizer champions including minimalist composer David Borden (who founded the seminal synth ensemble Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company in 1969), Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never, Ford & Lopatin), Laurel Halo, Samuel Godin, and James Ferraro (The Skaters).

Inspired by both “Borden's accomplishments in ensemble improvisation and by a basic desire for collective energy and levity,” FRKWYS Vol. 7 was recorded over two days and represents full session takes, edited only for time. The CD and limited edition LP will both be available July 17, with digital download becoming available July 30 at igetrvng.com.

The celestial, sweeping “People of the Wind Pt. 2” is available now for your listening pleasure:
