Michigan via LA quartet Lord Huron is set to release two EPs and a single. The first, Into the Sun, has been available digitally but will be available on vinyl later this month. The title track is also getting pressed as a 7″ on November 16.
The second EP, Mighty, will be available on November 2. Lord Huron gets its name from the location at which the songs of Into the Sun were written: Lake Huron. But their sound borrows from Caribbean calypso, not Motor City rock. Seagulls and saltwater spray bookend full, folksy, call-and-response melodies made more austere with a dollop of reverb and blankets of overlapping instruments. Appropriately, two of the band members used to gig full time on cruise ships.
Lord Huron will also play a few dates in LA as well as NYC for the CMJ Festival. We're still waiting for a steel drum solo.
