Robert Wyatt, the immensely prolific avant jazz/pop artist known for his work with The Soft Machine and as a freewheeling solo artist, will be revitalized again when D.C.-based label Cuneiform puts out archival material of his from 1968. The label is slated to release a 6-track album from Wyatt entitled '68, and the first track, “Rivmic Melodies” is a basis for some of the the Soft Machine's 1969 work. The release is all Wyatt material recorded during his time in the States supporting The Jimi Hendrix Experience with SM, so it's illuminating as well as fascinating. Stream “Rivmic Melodies” below, then head over to Cuneiform to pick up a preorder for its release on October 8.
