Smash it Dead Fest, an annual weekend of shows, workshops and readings in Cambridge, MA, which raises money for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, has announced the initial lineup for this year’s fest. The all-ages festival will take place on June 19, 20, and 21 at the Democracy Center and the Cambridge YMCA for a weekend of “radical queer feminist and p.o.c. centric workshops and music.” This year’s list of announced bands include Aye Nako, Dominadora, Hard Nips, Katherine, Malportado Kids, and Try the Pie.
Smash it Dead has been around since 2011 and has hosted rad feminist punk and hardcore bands from all over the US including Libyans, Iron Chic, Who Killed Spikey Jacket, Potty Mouth, Curmudgeon, In School, Shady Hawkins, Peeple Watchin, Parasol, Priests, Joyride, Downtown Boys, Homewreckers, Girlcrush, Permanent Ruin, Margy Pepper, Ragana, and Anomaly, as well as workshops about consent, privilege, the criminal justice system, white supremacy, safe(r) spaces, and participation in music scenes by people of color, and queer, trans, and non-binary people.
