The Hive Dwellers, a Calvin Johnson-fronted project, recently announced their sophomore album, Moanin'. Recorded in Dub Narcotic Studio (aka the cathedral of K Records) in Olympia, Moanin' is a collection of homegrown twee that celebrates the nuances of its quiet town (“Streets of Olympia Town”), while exploring the Americana twang that stretches across the nation's plains.

Comprised of Mr. Johnson, Gabriel Will, and Evan Hashi, The Dwellers debuted with Hewn From The Wilderness in 2012. As timeless and pure as any Johnson-fronted outfit, The Hive Dwellers could be the house band in a Marfa bookstore, a Jerome saloon, a Memphis dive, or a Missoula coffeeshop. Having toured the country several times over, the trio have American music embedded in their guts and it lives in their field recordings at Dub Narcotic Studio.

The Hive Dweller's Moanin' is available April 29, pre-order via K Records.
