The return of Lil Wayne the rapper

Lil Wayne

We selected Lil Wayne's Rebirth as the abomination of 2010, but we never said Lil Wayne was not one of the greatest living rappers. Lil Wayne served his time, going as deep as solitary confinement, for releasing Rebirth (or was there some alternate reason he was in prison? we forget). Out of prison without declaring a conversion to Islam, it seems Wayne is still the same out-of-this-world rapper we recall before his lock up.

Produced by Bangladesh, “6'7'” is three minutes of our favorite martian attempting to resurrect The Source's Hip Hop Quotables sidebar – oh, and a Cory Gunz verse tagged at the end. It took us a minute to comprehend our favorite bar, but we've selected “bitch, real Gs move in silence like lasagna” as his finest simile to date. It was also comforting to know his Phoenix education did not go to waste when he broke down how to properly use a subject and a predicate.

Too soon to declare Carter IV the album of the year in 2011?
