vhvl announces new EP on Yellow Year

Harlem producer and Friday Night mix series alum vhvl has a new EP due in January on Guillermo Scott Herren (aka Prefuse 73) and Angel Ceballos’ Yellow Year Records. Entitled Empthy EP, vhvl explores ethereal textures that map the pathos of our mortality via heady IDM machinations.

Lead single “lthrgy” is a far cry from vhvl’s myrrah release in 2013. Where previous works like “byu”or “yyy” strode through headphones in confident bounce, “lthrgy” finds vhvl under heavy eyelids, in a celestial sleep state. The pitter-patter of percussion is the rapid eye movements simulating an otherwise ghostly station. “lthrgy” suggests progression that feels closer to vhvl as a producer and reveals more about Veronica Lauren the person. With each track’s pathological title, the EP discloses diary entries into her conflicts.

The Empthy EP is due in January on Yellow Year Records.
