Weezer @ Chase Center

Post Author: Greg Chow

Weezer celebrated the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut record, aka The Blue Album, on their Voyage to the Blue Planet tour, and hit Chase Center in San Francisco on October 9th. After opening sets by The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr., Weezer emerged from a cloud of fog, underneath a raising space capsule, and launched into a series of latter-day Weezer hits like “Beverly Hills,” “Pork and Beans,” “Hash Pipe” and “Island in the Sun.” Then, the section of the setlist titled the “Pinkerton Asteroid Belt” featured a handful of songs from their second record, plus fan-favorite “You Gave Your Love to Me Softly.”
After a quick break for a costume change–Rivers Cuomo in a Weezer-themed Star Trek: The Next Generation Uniform–the band our through the Blue Album, playing 25 songs in total.
