Punchy synths reminiscent of 80s California blend with laid back vocals to create a refreshing atmosphere in DEGA’s latest single, “Mirrors.” The track is invigorating, warming away the winter chill, motivating the listener with every groove. DEGA is comprised of husband-wife duo Kalen and Aslyn Nash, who met in 2008 and married in 2011. They’ve already toured with some incredible musicians, including a 2017 tour with Washed Out. With hints of The XX, Slowdive, and Wild Nothing, the duo mesh their different musical backgrounds into one wild, intoxicating blend of indie rock.
Regarding their upcoming debut album, Kalen added, “This new record is all about having a good time, about having fun. We don’t want anyone to overthink it. We just want to share it. The guitar countermelody in the chorus is where Mirrors began. We were just playing around with it and the song happen. The lyrics are about getting lost in the obsessions of chasing love.”
DEGA’s forthcoming self-titled LP will be released on February 23 on Lemonade Records, and you can keep up with them here.
