Featured off his recent epic album Wheel of Fortune from Little L Records; the creative composer Sam Brown returns with the visual for the lead off track “Untitled” ft. Zen that delivers a calming journey through both city & rural environments. The UNC Chapel Hill composition grad takes cues from international approaches to musical construction where much of his productions are centered around distilling the essences of feeling through restrained arrangements. Offering up a dialogue that questions the nature of being ready & available to accept the endearing affinities from another heart. Inward ruminations on the issue are expressed through Zen & Sam’s duet sung in sparse lyrics and instrumental blank spaces that offer up reflective valleys of pause & genuine contemplation of desires.
“Untitled” begins with vocals from Zen inquiring at the intercom “tell me if I’m good” as we see Sam taking his thoughts for a walk along train tracks & across fields of a rich gold, blue & green luster. These expansive vistas contrast the town & country dynamics that allude to the difference between real life & our own inner emotive though processes. Sam Brown’s questioning of the self finds him chasing Amtrak trains and rotating abandoned tractor tires across a soccer field while sorting out all the feels. Zen introduced the song & visual for “Untitled” with the following thoughts:

This reflects that moment when you meet someone that is interested in you and you have to take a good look at yourself before bringing someone new into your life: I was picturing myself being very vulnerable and submissive to receiving someone’s love, but questioning myself to see if I was even worthy of loving. Giving a subtle warning to the person falling for me. It’s an inner struggle of asking myself if I’m even ready. It’s a back and forth between my conscious and reality.

Sam Brown’s double album Wheel of Fortune is avaialble now via Little L Records.
