Trick or Treat – Shits and Giggles

Let Pink add some more casio on that dinner party convo.

Shits and Giggles is the collaboration between Vas Deferens Organization's Eric Lumbleau and Ariel Pink that officially dropped its 500-edition, 180-gram vinyl debut LP in August. I am getting to it in November. We should all be ordering it from Lumbleau's baby label Free Dope and Fucking in the Streets, right now.

Before it's conceptual, or a cream-worthy collaboration for various sectors of the fanboy underground, it's pretty fun to listen to. On the other hand, it's not very fun trying to guess who did what, because unsurprisingly, there is a lot going on at once.

I will anyway, and assume that the scatter-shot samples that range anywhere from people muttering in public to free trumpet jazz to handheld learning devices and Ney flutes outta a Sublime Frequency track are the work of Lumbleau, while the dinky jams on synths and flangy guitars are Mr. Pink.

Together, their shits and giggles sound effortlessly wonky, certainly jarring to those who are attracted to Ariel Pink for his song writing, and pretty much the going rate for something avant and patchwork you'd download on Mutant Sounds, which means a mini classic for the outsider crate diggers.

Now you just gotta fork over 21 bones.
