Abdu Ali, “Keep Movin [Negro Kai]”

Jes Skolnik

We covered Baltimore rapper and activist Abdu Ali‘s brilliant, unique and vital track “Keep Movin [Negro Kai]”, produced by Mental Jewelry with co-production by Ali himself, back in February when it was initially released. Now you can watch the spellbinding visual for the song, directed by animation artist Ghost Drank. Bright colors flow from the abstract to the representational and back, illustrating the song’s theme of living without limits, pushing toward freedom, and the visual and sonic connections between different forms of African diasporic art. “Keep Movin [Negro Kai]” will appear on Ali’s mixtape MONGO, out in 2016.
