Oakland-born, LA-based artist birthday’s ascension occurred in a story book fashion that most every young musician longs for – and the internet has made possible. It started with uploading four songs to his Soundcloud in early Spring. The buoyant, uptempo tracks made waves and marked him as a voice to look out for in the alt-Pop scene. After achieving that ration of fanfare, he decided to take his career to the next level with a move to LA.
Now, birthday is preparing to release his Subtle Love EP on December 2nd. Along with giving us the privilege of making that announcement, he also dropped off the video for “Babyface,” one of the songs from his initial breakout. “Babyface” joins “Grown Up Kids” and “Subtle Love” as the three previously released tracks that comprise the 5-song EP.
The video for “Babyface” is a strong compliment to the song. birthday says in the beginning of the track that, “I know the color of euphoria.” Perhaps that explains the scenes with him washed in hues of pink and green, singing longingly of what he describes as “that young, reckless romance that influences you in every sense of the word.”
